Sorry haven't been blogging.
Been busy lately, just dun ask me with what, i dun really know what i've been up to either. Seemed like i've been doing nothing at all but yet each day had been a mad rush.
Time just hasn't been generous to me. Damn.
Anyway been doing a lot of thinking lately, whether to lead a life of comfort but as an unacomplished man, or to slog my life away but achieve satisfaction in what i do.
Too bad u can't have both. But being a man is about acomplishment anyway. A warrior is honoured by the battles he fought and not by his title. His name lives on even past death.
During the afternoon, my sister and i went town for movie and shopping. Oh, by the way we caught Resident Evil, that Foo Ji Kun said it's damn lousy lor, but not bad lei...
Most of the time throughout the walk around town, we chatted about work, the usual, the lousy flights, the good flights and stuff. Then she commented that the good thing about our job is that we do not need to bring our work home. Once u walk out of the aerobridge u leave everything behind. No backlogging.
Then i thot to myself, eh... i never minded backlogging. I can totally imersed myself with work. haha...
During my Poly FYP days i pratically eat, sleep, drink, dream project. I kind of enjoyed it, never once complained. Even find pride in staying in the lab till midnight to finish my work when the rest of my project group succumbed to boredom.
But then again, the key word is ENJOY... and also because my ultimate satisfaction comes from seeing my project group pass when the other 4 out of 6 group failed.
Haha... Anyway i really think those people deserved to fail. Those people wasted their time away, abusing the generosity and flexiblity of time given to them for their work, misusing the time to go shoot pool, watch movies and basically skive till the day ends.
Not that u can't enjoy the freedom of time, i did once in a while used my project time to watch movie, went for some super long lunch breaks and many more. But the thing is, make use of this freedom and not abuse it. Time should be used approprately, when work demands of it, use it to do work, either than that, the time is all yours.
This guy from another project group came up to me in shocking disbelieve that he can't believe he actually failed. Then i looked at his project and looked at him and said, "of coz u failed, u have an incomplete report, an incomplete project and half your team dun even know what u all are prresenting."
I got a B for my project and that was with a complete working prototype- fine tuned and performing up to expectations, a complete report and a full presentation and demostration.
As project leader, i also ensure my team delieve. My priciple is u can do anything u want just as long u delieve by end of the day.
The only person i think that shouldn't fail was this gal in this guy's project group, most of the time while they were skiving she was doing all their work. I really pitied her when her group failed.
Haha... the most funny lot was this "Mut" group. haha... they were supposed to build some motorised wheelchair of sort, they ended up blacking-out the whole level just by testing their motor. haha... Most of the time they weren't even in the campus. And on the project day itself they just submitted a schematic of their circuit board design. I almost wanna flip laughing.
Needless to say, those "muts" failed too. hahaha...
In singapore, there are not many people who enjoy their work. It's only out of necessity that people go to work. They have no drive yet they give that "been there done that" type of attitude that says what gives u the right to surpass them and claim u'll do better than them.
Someday i shall realise my full potential.
