IT Show @ Suntec.
Met up with Wendy again today after yesterday's outing. hee... 2nd day in a row.

Was supposed to be catching Pirates of the Caribbean with Wendy last night but we ended up going shopping instead. Since the Movie plan for last night was scrapped, there was plenty of time to spare, so after dinner we went to Ink Club at Swissotel for chit chat and drinks.

Both of us wrapped up our chit chat and finished up the bottle of Wine and left at 2am. Hee... was struggling to wake up this morning. Lucky only meeting Wendy for the IT show in the afternoon. haha...

Anyway Wendy brought along 2 other gals she flew with during her last 2 flights. So the 4 of us went shopping for the latest gadgets and best deals in town.

Haha... U should see how we shopped. Think the sales person loves us man! haha... Everything we see we say "buy buy buy..." haha... I was so amazed they each bought a digital cordless phone out of the blues. All becoz the sales people at the booth were annoucing "half price for 5 mins" haha... Stunned... But it was a good bargain lah, just that i dun need one at the moment.

We made a small pitstop at Suntec's NYDC to escape the crowd, rest our tired legs and ponder over what we should and shouldn't buy before returning back to the IT show. The IT show was like a damn market place, packed and noisy.

People packed shoulder to shoulder trying to squeeze their way past each other, music blasting away and sale people shouting out their latest offer, trying to rise above the noise level. We need some escape man, hee... and as well as to indulge in Cheesecakes and coffee, U can never get enough of cheesecakes.

Anyway Everyone bought something after returning back to the IT show from our short Pitstop at NYDC. Nicole got herself an iPod Nano at 35% discount, Felicia got her Canon camera and Wendy is coming back for her Mac Book tomolo. Plus they each got themselves a cordless phone. haha...

As for me? hee... see what i bought!

I got it for a bargain at 29% discount at $392! In the past i couldn't find a reason as to why i should spend so much for a MP3 player. Hee... But now? Because i deserved it. haha... I'll be working for nothing if i dun spend my hard-earned money pampering myself. haha

Anyway speaking of Felicia and her digital camera. She lost it while they were sightseeing in Milan. Poor thing, got pickpocketed. But that's Europe, foreigners and tourists are often targeted by syndicates.

For a simple reason- We don't know the language, the place, the people well and we don't stay long enough to pursue the matter.

Local authorities are helpless against such matter as well. In some places these syndicates are bold enough to take your stuff and walk away- WITH A SMILE. The best advice is to guard your belonging like u would anywhere else in the world and if u wanna enjoy your trip, leave your LV, Gucci and Prada at home.

Auckland flight coming up tomolo morning. I dun think i've the time to go play with my new toy, got to wait till i get back.

i'll be flying with Doreen again tomolo, continuation of our Seoul - Frisco flight. haha... It's always nice to fly with someone u know, easier to work with and easier to go sightseeing with.

Waiting...
The still of the night, the quietness and the creeping loneliness only magnifies my innermost emptiness.

i wished i could say those words, but yet i lack the courage for the fear of losing everything.

i wished things were much simpler, but yet simplicity is merely saying those complex few words. That's the irony of the situation.

Only thing to do now is wait, hope for courage when the time comes and hopefully i'm not too late.

Anyway dispite the gloom there's good news, haha... No more P plate liao and i didn't even notice. haha...

Shopping in Seoul & Frisco.
Hee... Guilty of overspending once again. haha... and i can't help it.

Hee... Just the tip of the iceberg, should see the rest when the bill comes in! haha...

It had been almost half a year since i last been to San Francisco. Hee... need to stock up on my Abercrombie T shirts as well as my H20+ skin care products. It's like damn cheap lor. Provided u buy in bulk. i bought the facial wash at 3 for US$56, that's like $28 for each in SGD. haha... It would have cost me $56 per tube in Singapore.

Anyway not much sightseeing this time round, just went about shopping.

hee... not that i dun want to sightsee, just that by the time we ended our shopping we were dead tired. haha... I even had the idea of watching sunset at the Golden Gate Bridge and sunrise at the Oakland Bridge but ended up i slept all the way thru.

What was supposed to be a short stop back at the hotel room before heading off to catch the sunset became a dead slumber till almost 11pm. haha... the bed was too tempting already. After I dropped my shopping bags on the couch, i found myself lying on the bed, haha... telling myself, "maybe i'll rest for half an hour."

Haha... turned out the half hour rest became a 4 hour sleep and there's another problem, i couldn't fall back to sleep till it was 4am in the morning. States time is half a day behind Singapore. So your body clock get screwed up alittle.

Anyhow, i thot i could at least catch the sunrise part, but ended up i missed the sunrise as well. Damn... haha... 2 days in Frisco and my time is up, got to leave for Seoul already. Looks like i've just got to wait for another SEL-SFO or HKG-SFO.

Well at least on the bright side, i did managed to eat my favourite cheese cake together with Esther and Doreen at Cheesecake Factory located at top floor of Macy.

Oh... and they have this pager with a vibrating alert thingi that they give u while u wait for your seat. So u can walk around, once there is an available seat they will page for u! haha... A neat little invention.

Hur hur... Anyway u gals will love Macy! haha... located in Union Square, with 7 stories of bags, shoes, clothings and accessories. Fashion heaven for the gals.

Hee... i got a little something for Wendy at Abercrombie too.

Back at Seoul didn't do much either, was already evening by the time we touched down. Most of us went up to change after check in then we headed to the korean food joint opposite our hotel. Actually eating in Korea is not cheap either, it cost about 5000 won for a simple meal of tofu soup and rice.

10000 won is about SGD$16.20

As usual we went drinking after that.

Went shopping at Dong Dae Mon the next day. WAH LAO... shopping in Seoul is not cheap also lor, especially for fashion. 1 T shirt already cost me 17000 won. There was this shirt that i like a lot but it cost 42000 won. SIAO AH! haha...

Oh, and u should try this corn dog thingi with fries sticking onto it. Looks damn nice man! haha... eh... taste like eating fries and hotdog together at the same time. haha... Put more Ketchup!

Although i've been to Seoul station before i didn't know there was a food court. Well i did know there was a departmental store and the crew's favourite Lotte Mart- a hugh supermarket selling all things korean. Eh... It's korea anyway... Duh... haha...

Anyway the food court works slightly differently from Singapore's, U actually go to the cashier to order and pay for your food first before they hand u a receipt with a queue number to go to the respective store to wait and collect your food.

Haha... And u have to bring your tray and empty plates and bowl back to the store after u finish your food. WAH... If u do that here in Singapore everyone will curse and swear. We are so used to being wait upon.

3rd Day was spent at Itaewon picking up some Laneige products for my sister. It would have been another boring day before the evening flight back had it not for Esther who accompanied me. haha... Anyway since the start of the trip i have been psycho-ing her and Doreen to buy things with me. Haha... Started at San Francisco's H20+ and Abercrombie and then all the way back to Seoul. haha... They have been my shopping and Makan Kakiis.

Anyway turns out that Doreen is Aloysius's team gal. haha... Small world. Aloysius is my ex's brother. haha...

Auckland 281 coming up next and i'll be doing the flight with Doreen. haha... How coincidental can this world get. haha... But think i will hibernate this time. I've overspent my spending budget already. i've already spent more that $1000 on shopping this month. Haha... Think i need to tie up my hands already.

Back from Narita.
Went shopping for Japanese dry store as usual, surprisingly just drystore alone actually cost me the bulk of my allowance for this Japan flight. Japanese instant noodles and microwave food are not cheap, haha... but then again i dun eat maggie noodles anymore.

Bee will say i "how lian" again already! haha... lalalala...

So i came home with a cargo bag full of instant noodle, microwavable pastas, Japanese Jellies and plenty of food to last me a month. haha...

Bought a Muji "turn" bag for my sister. She could now use this convenient hand carry one instead of lugging around the cabin bag for short turnarounds. Hee... it's not cheap too lor, must claim money from her already.

The more i look at it the more i liked it. Most probably i'll get one for myself the next time i do a NRT flight. Argh... Dun remind me. Let's hope the next time will be up Narita via Bangkok not the other way round. If not really "Bang Cock" ah! haha...

Let's just say it's not easy. I really pity the Japanese stewardess.

Anyway i went sightseeing this time round instead of like the other time just visiting Aeon Shopping Center for shopping only. Went to visit the Sensoji Temple this time. Wah... even Frommers travel guide gives it a 3/3 stars as a must see attraction. haha... so must go!

Slept for 2 hours after check in and went down to meet Tricia, Zhining and Chris for lunch before catching the shutter that goes to the JR Narita train station and Aeon. Elane caught up with us after our lunch and we all took the shutter to the JR train station.

Sensoji Temple is just a 10mins walk from the station. Actually it's faster than that lah, just that we were caught up with taking photos and awing at the sights of building and people. The place still retains it's old world charm with its japanese style houses but with the convience of modern day amenities like vending machines along the roads.

Scenes of children in Japanese school uniforms walking down the narrow streets holding hands reminds u of the olden day peaceful japanese town we commonly relate to in movies. If not for the stressful working lifestyle of the japanese, this would be a nice place to live in.

Hey... and some of u stop it ok! haha... i'm not referring to the other type of Japanese school uniform. haha... TJW... haha... WAH... *tua stunned* haha...

Sensoji Temple was not what i really expect of a temple. The compound was huge! Not to mention the numerous stairs haha... The temple was built up a hill. so u've got to climb! haha... There were gardens and temple structures that's really awe-inspiring.

Unfortunately we didn't manage to finish visit the entire place coz we got to catch the next bus to Aeon before the driver break for lunch or we will be stuck there till the next hour. Time is precious. haha...

While on the way back to the station, i poped into a shop and saw this cutesy folding mirror with intricate japanese floral prints. Really really nice, so i bought it for someone... heee... Yah yah... Wanna know who just look out for the mirror. haha... really nice one, can't miss it. haha... lalalala...

Bought a few souvenirs for myself too! hee... cute right?

We passed this shop that sells these japanese bean paste filling pancakes. hee... we couldn't help ourselves so we bought some before making our way back to the shutter stop heading to Aeon. haha...

Wah... but warn u first, it's damn sweet! haha... then again, after having one bite, i still crave for it now! Yummmy... I saw a store at Bugis Junction that sells the same thing but they can't reproduce the exact taste and texture of the japanese ones. Really really nice!

Haha... but what u expect from our local industries?

Many-a-times many people franchise a brand knowing nothing of the product only hoping to ride its popularity gained overseas in our local market. Remember Shui Lui Shan that someone bought to Singapore? In HongKong it's a must stop dessert joint! No one leaves Hongkong without having its mango dessert or Bird Nest with Xue Ge.

Unfortuately, the one in Singapore was a flop and it closed down soon after. Wanna know what's wrong? The difference is in the mangoes. The one used in Singapore is too sour, they used the wrong breed of mangoes. The person should do his homework first. Not all mango are the same.

Lure of easy money and laziness is the cause of why many ventures in singapore failed.

Seriously i think i should do business. haha...
Checked my mail once i got home. The vouchers that i've exchanged using the points earned from my UOB card has arrived. A $10 voucher for Hagen Daz and a $20 voucher for Tong Lok restaurants. WAH... total worth of $30 for 800 over points, that's like a spending $4000 for $30. haha... well... better than nothing. haha...

Meeting Wendy on Sunday. A good day to use the vouchers! haha...

Yet Another Boring Day.
Back from a Saigon Turn yesterday. Still managed dispite the minimum crewing. I never thot such a load can be operated on minimum crew. haha...

Was already dead beat by the time i got back. But it's mother's day after all so i bought mom and uncle out for dinner at United Square's Soup Restaurant. Sis wasn't around, mom said she wore nice clothes and went out. haha... Nice? haha... Sounds like a date.

Wondering how someone is doing on her ICN-SFO. haha...

Anyway planning for the September's Europe trip has began. Hmmm... but wondering should we be more adventurous and try out Eastern Europe. haha... Remember Euro Trip that show? haha... There's a place call Bratislava haha... Think dun have to tell u all the rest. My army pals should know it well. haha...

Hee... but sounds like we may blow our current budget.

Now, just waiting for someone to come back to discuss about the trip. That person is being missed already. haha... Damn and i'll be doing ICN-SFO next.

Oh, turns out Karen, Jiahui and Lijuan are planning a europe in September as well. Except i heard it will be a month long! my god. My freaking leave is only 10 days, i dun really think it's enough but it'll do.

Let's hope everything goes as planned. Who knows, we might bump into each other in Europe. haha...

Tomolo doing a Narita - Bangkok and will be back on Thursday. Hmmm... wondering if i should go sightseeing or shopping or sacrifice my sleep and do both.

Back from Sydney and Dinner with Wendy.
hee... U won't believe i went sightseeing in Sydney. Nobody do sightseeing in Sydney anymore, U can't do much with one nightstop in Sydney and it's always a tiring and miserable flight that spoils any mood for sightseeing.

The hotel room, LCD TV and the DVD player in Hiton would be a better choice. haha...

Oh... by the way, Sydney Hilton is Wendy's favourite hotel. haha... Frankly i too prefer Sydney Hilton than Swissotel Sydney coz Hilton give Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries and provide DVD players in each room. They even have automatic window shades. haha...

The crew gave me a shock and stunned face early the next morning when we checked out. The 5am sleepy face gave way to wide-eye shocked disbelieve when i told them i went out and WENT SIGHTSEEING... haha...

"SIGHTSEEING...?!!" haha...

They all assumed i went out to eat all by myself and return back to the hotel to hibernate when i remained out of reach for the entire day. haha...

Well, u have to thank Wendy for that. She made me wanna see Aussie stations more with all her Melbourne stories. haha... But seriously, this world is full of places and sights waiting to be explore, waiting to be seen. Just that it may be a little inconvient and u may run into plenty of problems on the way.

But once u reached there, it's all worth it.

Anyway u will be surprised that visiting Europe may be as difficult as visiting India. English is a common language here because our government made it so. But it's not so elsewhere and they only speak their own language. To them it's a sense of identity.

Singapore on the other hand try to down play the importance of mother tongue with schools and some work place restricting the use of another language either than english. Its effect can be seen in the kids today who could hardly read or write in anything other than in english.

Speak their language and u will see alot of difference. haha... U may even recieve preferential treatment. Like that time in Paris with the Violet who could speak fluent French. That was the one time i truely enjoyed Paris. Oh... by the way i've been to Paris 4 times already. haha...

And Bee will say "Yeeeeeeeeeeeerrr... How lian...!" haha...

YESSS...! i'm how lian, haha... but not by the fact that i've got the chance to travel but more of the all that sightseeing that i've done.

Although being a crew allows u to travel to different destination, but to step out of the hotel room is another thing altogether. It requires lots of determination. It's actually very tiring to travel, more so when u literally work to your destination. U are dead beat by the time u get there and u can forget about adjusting to the time there. Layovers are now shorter, with lesser days, u got lesser time to waste.

So u've got to drag your ass out of the room, trying to forget the fact that u barely slept and try to make your way to the destination with a body weighed down by jetlag. Not to mention, trying to navigate with your eyes half closed.

Travelling is tring business. But once u get there is all worth it.

Ok, back to Sydney.

Although it was a short stay, i know i might not have another chance to do my sightseeing again. The 221 pattern allow me a full day in Sydney since we touchdown around 6am in the morning. Furthermore, the load was pretty moderate compared to the usual full or overbooked load which would have drained me completely by then. As such, i could forget about going anywhere already.

After checking into the hotel, i had a short 2 hours nap before waking up for a quick shower.Flip thru the travel guide i took from the airport and decided to take a whale watching cruise which would take half a day.

haha... But stupid me, it's only available from November. haha... It's even written on the travel guide just that i dun really know what am i reading already. haha... I only knew when i got to King Street Wharf at Darling Harbour to try to get myself the tickets. haha...

As u can see what effect a tired mind has on a person. haha...

So instead i bought a combination tix for the Sydney Aquarium and Sydney Wildlife World.

The Sydney Aquarium was eh... haha... I dunnoe lah, but singapore's Underwater World fair better. Still, there are one or two attraction that made me go "wow". There were the Penguins, the motherfucking-big-ass-crab which i forgot what was it called and there was the big-ass Ray as well. haha...

But the Wildlife World was definately much better. It's hard for me to describe it here lah, but it's like having the comfort of walking thru air-conditioned alses of exhibit like in a museum but with live specimens behind rows of glass enclosures in their natural habitat.

My only mistake was that i should have visited the Wildlife World first, coz although it opens till 10pm, u can't see a damn thing in the aviary in the evening since the enclosure is open-air with only a netted cover on the top to allow natural light in. By 7pm it's already dark in Sydney.

So just too bad, i only see trees and plants... haha...

The darkness seemed so all-familiar once again. Like those nights in outfield. The sound, the feel all seems to be coming back to me. haha... The guys should know what i'm taking about, especially TJW. haha...
Amazingly, just these 2 places i end up spending half a day there already. It was already almost 8pm by the time i walked out of Wildlife world. Dropped by at Mac on the way back to the hotel to buy myself some takeaway dinner. haha... such is the lonely life of a traveller.

Anyway i actually wanted to visit the Sydney Opera House, but the call time is at 4 plus the next morning. i decided against it, plus i have not yet fully recover from Karachi.

Got back yesterday afternoon and SMSed Wendy, heee... surprisingly she was free for dinner.

We met up at Paragon at 5pm, went Window shopping at Paragon's Gucci and then to Scotts DFS. haha... Thoughout the whole evening we always got carried away in our conversation and end up walking in the wrong direction. haha...

Saw one Gucci sling bag that i really liked, cost something like $1230 without discount. Hmmm... maybe i will get one for myself as a christmas present to reward myself for working so hard. haha...

Finally we settled at Big O to have our Dinner. Ordered the platter for 2, Bailey's Irish Cream cheese cake and Ice Cream. haha... Sinful Dinner right? haha... But it was dinner with Wendy and it ought to be enjoyed.

Great dinner, great conversation, together with someone i can never say no to, u can say it's a great way to end a hard day's work. :)

Sydney Tonight...
Oh my god... Still feel like crap. But no choice, looks like i've still got to operate tonight. Don't know how am i gonna last all the way till next morning. Can only hope it would be over soon. Just pray that the load would be a merciful one. haha...

Damn... My head is still throbbing.

Heee... but most probably that was from the late night chat with Wendy. haha... Wendy was back from Mel last night.

The conversation was supposed to be saved for the next time we met up but we ended up chatting till 4am in the morning. Amazing Wendy kept awake for so long considering Mel to be a tough flight. Well then again, i'm sick as well, so... haha...

Anyway we always have plenty to talk about. Plenty more the next time we meet. haha...

This morning i recieved 2 missed calls. Actually was just one miss call while i didn't pick up the other coz i didn't recognise the number. 2 different numbers, with similar starting numbers, i supposed it's the same caller just using a different line.

The number seem awefully familiar.

Haha... Nevertheless, i do not pick up unfamiliar numbers now. Only those numbers that are in my phone list will i pick up. This past year i've gotten myself involved in a lot of things i shouldn't have and some mistakes made should just end there, not drag on in a destructive cycle.

I now choose happiness in living my own life instead of living to people's demands. If i become depressed and suicidal, who's there to blame? -Nobody! because i have a choice to how i wanna live my life. Likewise, no one else is responsible for another one's life. U live your own life.

Back from Karachi and Very SICK.
Actually i was back on Sunday morning, but slept the entire day away. Just when i thot i could make up for lost time i fell sick yesterday. What a great way to spend an offday.

Anyway the night cycling thing with Lynn didn't materialise.

Damn... but as usual, after Karachi, most people would make a trip down to the doctor. Not many Singaporean could adapt to Pakistani food. My sister end up sick the last time she was there as well. Anyway i got a 38 degrees fever and a slight bout of diarrhoea. The diarrhoea wasn't the problem, it was the fever that's killing me.

My god... I've body ache all over and a throbbing headache that felt as if my head was about to explode. Wanted to let everything go away on it's own but i gave up eventually and went to see the doc at night.

Haha... Anyway it's free, haha... My very first trip to Raffles Hospital, the one at North Bridge Road. Made me feel damn rich boy! haha... If i weren't on company account, it would have cost me $60 to $70 for this trip.

The medicines they gave were also damn cute looking. haha...

Well at least now i'm feeling better. Hmmm... Think i should go out today to fully utilise what ever time i've left. Doing ANOTHER sydney flight tomolo. 2 Sydney flights within half a month, most people would be crying foul already.

Pray for May to pass quickly, as my leaves are coming in June. Really need to go on leave badly!

For those who wanna know what's there to do at Karachi, haha... eh... not much. haha... Crew seldom go out in Karachi. But i did managed to visit the french beach, which the locals claim to be breathtaking. haha... So me, Effy and Alvin packed our stuff, rent a car and a driver and went there after lunch on the 2nd day.

haha... We can't believe our eyes... haha... 'dot... dot... dot...' eh... dunnoe how to describe lah. Well it does beat Sentosa but still... U could find better spot elsewhere. The only thing nice is its scenic beachfront and rock formation. All the pictures u take looks like post cards. haha...

But not bad right? the picture came out rather nice, even more so for a camera phone. Nowaday, i just go travelling with my Sony Ericsson K800i, good enough to function as a phone, a camera and an MP3 player. haha...

Later in the evening we made a stop at the Quaid-i-Azam Mausoleum, a monument to Pakistan’s founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah. The driver made a request to the commander for his guards to do a performance for us. haha...
There were like 4 guards guarding the marble coffin in the middle of the Mausoleum, each at a corner. At the command of the commander, they marched off in a clockwise direction and took the place of the previous guard that was standing there.

Anyway eh... as an ex military personnel, this doesn't really intrigue me. haha... So we took some pictures and left for the hotel. Anyway it was dinner time already too. Our original plan of going to Clifton for a BBQ dinner didn't really work out coz the driver say that going there at 9pm would be a better time. WAH... so late right?

By the way, Clifton is like a coastal corner for the local wealthy, so i guess should be quite happening one.

I also found out why the trucks, lorry, buses and mini vans are all so elaborately painted and decorated. Coz in the past, while travelling thru the mountain passes, these caravans often get robbed by bandits. So the people painted symbol of their gods on the vehicles to ask for protection. So till this day, this tradition is still being carried out.

So, that's so much for our stay in Karachi. For the rest of our stay we just stay in the hotel, do gym, swim, suntan, play cards, chat, watch TV, eat and sleep. haha... On the flight to Karachi, we actually realised we could have saved ourselves the misery of having nothing to do there by bring a Mahjong set there. haha...

Then someone suggested we could maybe go to the bazaar to look for Mahjong tiles made of mable. haha... Anyway Karachi is a place to look for Marble tile and carpets. haha... forget the marble tiles lah, just bring back the carpets. haha...

Anyway i discovered this world is really small. Turns out that on this flight someone is connected to someone else. haha... Well, Effy is my sister's secondary school classmate, and there's Ling, who is rujun course mate in poly and now in RMIT as well and turns out the FO, Alvin knows Rujun too. Rujun is sort of my cousin. haha.. WAH... Really a small world.

Oh... got a sweet surprise when i opened my mailbox after flight. haha... After Ling and i checked out after flight we were wondering if we should go check our mailbox. haha... i told her i gave up lah, nobody drop things for me one. haha... But since she wanna go check i decided i might as well go check. haha... when i peep into the slit of the mailbox, there was actually something inside! haha...

It's a box of Hanuta and Giotto Chocolates! haha... Frankfrut chocolates from Wendy! haha... Ai yo... so sweet leh! She even dropped me a note. Hee... but i'm not going to post the note! It's for my eyes only! hahaha...

Girl, U have certainly brighten up my day! :)

Karachi tonight.
Anyway i'm having one more Sydney to go after this then i really REALLY hope they won't roster me anymore Sydney flight. Somethings once a month is already enough, twice a month is really pushing it especially when it's so close together. Damn...

Went out with Siewyin last night, it had been almost 3 months since i last met up with her. So much things to catch up on. Hmmm... But i do hope her situation would improve. Somethings in life are beyond our control. So let us not worry about those that we do not have control over. There are many other things in life that is more worthy of our attention.

Sigh... Some problems are still sneaking back, even when i thought the whole episode is over already. Looks like leaving it alone isn't really working.

Karachi tonight, packed my training gear for this trip. haha... Since not much to do there i must well go do some workout. Reservist coming anyway, if i were to go back in my current form i would must probably not make it past the week. haha...

Anyway anyone know what can we do in Karachi? haha... It's in Pakistan lah... haha...

Coming back on the 6th and going night cycling with my dearest teamgal.

haha... Like no need to rest like that right? haha... i always say u can sleep all u want when u die. haha... But truely lah, the fact is that our time is damn limited in Singapore. U have to make use of every minute u get. haha... Just like now- 30mins to blog, before i have to leave the house to report for flight.

haha... See u all soon! bye!
