There are something more important
than life itself- LOVE.
Yes, as mushy as it might sound, love conquers all. Fear grips us when we stare death in the eye. Yet, if death were to choose someone we love instead, fear would become courage, and our life would matter less. We will instinctly place our lives in harms way so the other may live.
I would say not all would do so, cowards do exist, but then again we are talking about true love here. Cowards do not know what true love is, for they fear the commitments and sacrifices that comes with love. it's true, everybody needs someone to stand by in times of difficulites and hardship. But how many are willing to return the favour, not to mention in times of danger and certain death.
I'm not asking for someone to jump onto a track infront of an incoming train to prove the person's magnitude of love. We should always treasure life for life is precious since u only have one anyway. What i'm saying is in time of danger, are u willing to protect someone at the expense of your own life?
I should say heroes are motivated by love. A leader's love for his country, a soldier's love for his brother, a parent's love for his child, a son's love for his family, a man's love for his wife. They give their lives so others may live their's to the fullest, instead of having all perish together.
Eh... But then again, crazy and suicidal people do not count. They do not value their own lives in the first place and often their death only brings about more hurting and sorrow than good.
i can't say if i will or will not, only that when the time comes i'll know my answer. Empty words are easy to say, many promised what they could not. Singaporeans live in a place far from disasters, over time, this made us complacent with our words and often, many thoughtless empty promises are made.
But what i can say is that when it is deemed necessary i will make that choice. To sacrifice oneself for the better of others.
Whether it counts or becomes a needless sacrifice will depend entirely on those being saved.
Hmmm... think i'm too free already writing about such topic. Hee... i've earned myself 5 days off since last Saturday. All thanks to my standby not being called up! Seriously bored today, ending up watching DVD the entire day. On a good note though, i've gotten my watch metal strap fixed yesterday and could now wear my watch to work!
