Christmas in Paris... Almost!
hee... Just came back from a Paris flight. Depature time was 2150, christmas day, even with Paris 7 hours behind Singapore time, we were only halfway there by the time christmas was over. haha... Nevertheless, still considered as i spent christmas overseas.

Anyway during the lull period, i look out of the window just to see where the heck are we already, i saw the most beautiful sight that i've not seen for a long time. From up above the cloudless night, the cities below were all lit up! Can't really discribe to u, u have to see it for yourself. But it was really really nice. Usually what i always see are ocean lah, all blue and damn sian...

13+ hours flight, 2 meal service and we've finally landed. But first order of the day was to hit the bed first! Anyway it was merely 7am in Paris and all dark and gloomy. Winter isn't exactly very friendly u know! haha... Nothing to see so early in the morning, not to mention shop.

*10am, View from the hotel room.

Showered, watched some TV (which 90% of the channel were all in french), after which i slept like a log till Jane called to meet for lunch. Hee... Frankly, being the junior there i should always call to meet for lunch, hee... but every flight i never one lah. I "jio" the crew before we land, the rest just add on only. Time and place all set at the hotel lobby before we hit our rooms.

This way everyone get mental preparation also right? Can plan ahead, no need to get disrupted mid-sleep.

Anyway i'm not the most junior on this flight! haha... But generally everyone on this flight were nice, no pulling of ranks. Well... maybe there was some "draw line" thingi... haha... But it was fine lah, in fact, it made the flight more hilarious. haha... There was this joke about the "draw line" people, but we shall not touch on that! haha...

Went for late lunch with the gals working with me in EY. Chief called to "jio" us for lunch too! haha... So nice leh, first time hear got Chief "jio"ing us. Unfortunately, we've plans already, so no choice but to reject the invitation, but the thought was really appreciated lah. : )

In the night we were off to visit the LV shop, Actually it's not a shop lor, it's a bloody building! haha... 3 levels of LV wallets, bags and accessories! From our hotel we took a subway from Porte Maillot to George V. U come up from the subway u will see the building already! U won't miss it one. I've never seen such a big Louis Vuitton sign anywhere else!

If u ask me, LV is really cheaper in Paris than in Singapore. Although it's in Euros. After the conversion it would cost around 20% cheaper. That would translate to a $1000 bag costing only $800 there. But of coz there is always the tax in Singapore which all travellers try to "siam"...

Rule of tumb, if u buy anything overseas, especially things that cost thousand-over-dollars discard the box and wrappers and use the item, or attempt to make them appear that they are being used, If not u will be taxed in Singapore.

Anyway, nobody bought anything, no one could decide what to buy. So after that the rest went back while me and Casey decide to go visit the Eiffel Tower. It's a freezing -2 degrees even with a Down jacket u could still feel the chill. Because i didn't bring my gloves and beanie, my ears and fingers were all numbed from the cold. But we damn hardcore lor, die die must see the Eiffel Tower. haha... We were shivering like mad lor.

The tropical Singaporeans are just not made for winter. haha...

But it's all worth it. The romantic hue of the Eiffel Tower lights really felt as if we were in a movie set. Truely beautiful. Seems like the best moment in my life i will never get to experence it with my gf, not that i've one now, but so far it has always been with friends or alone. Even if i've a chance to go back there again with my gf, the feeling will never be the same. Nothing beats the first experence.

Hee... Like Wendy commented after we watched "The Holiday" last week, Winter for single is well... "cold, single and lonely..." haha... Which is true to a certain extend! Thank goodness i've got company!

Anyway I really pity those street peddlers who sell their wares on the streets. It was so cold, yet they have to stand in the freezing weather to sell their stuff, mainly souvenirs and toys. I was at Trocadero, which was across the river facing the Eiffel Tower. For the 1 and 1/2 hours i was there i didn't see anyone buy their stuff.

How can anyone survive like that in winter? But well, they still managed to survive this way for the past decade. Come to think of it, living in Singapore isn't that bad, at least the poor dun have to freeze to death. At most just homeless only. haha... Duh...

*The Arc De Triomphe in the background.

Oh and i saw something damn cruel while i was at George V, someone left 4 dogs on the street in the middle of winter, cold and huddled up. It's both sweet and heartbreaking. Sweet as in the 4 dogs were all huddled together, sharing warmth and heartbreaking as in who the fuck leave their pets in the open in the middle of winter, leashed to a tree with nowhere to hide from the cold. Basket right?

We finally decided to go back around 10pm. It was really too cold to stay outside lah. Took the train back to our hotel.

Oh by the way, the station for Eiffel Tower is Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel. There is actually another train line leading there from our hotel at Porte Maillot. The Train line is direct but u have to wait as there are 3 or 4 different trains on the same line but going to different train. U have to make sure u hop onto the right one.

*On the train, enroute to the Eiffel Tower.

As for the subway, from Porte Maillot u have to alight at Charles de Gaulle Etolle and change onto another line which goes Bir-Hakeim, which is the same station as Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel. Confused right? So was i! haha... Best part, few will try to communicate in English. lalala... U're alone if u decide to backpack. Better brush up on your french!

Anyway, when i was in Paris i was feeling damn jet lagged! 7 hours difference could really be quite screw up. By evening time u would feel damn lethargic coz it's like past midnight in Singapore.

Next day nothing much, we went to GALARIES LAFAYETTE by the subway. The station is Chausse d'Antin La Fayette if anyone would like to know. But if u take from Porte Maillot, u would have to change onto another line at Franklin D. Roosevelt which will bring u to Chausse d'Antin La Fayette.

Think of GALARIES LAYFAYETTE as one gigantic DFS. haha... 2 super big shopping complex actually! Remember to get your Tax rebate when u shop there. Finally everyone bought something, the gang finally gotten their LVs, while as for me? I'm still budget shopping. haha... But i did got myself a pair of glove and a scarf at H&M opposite GALARIES LAYFAYETTE.

There was also ZARA, but the price is the same as singapore and the range are about the same as Singapore, well... maybe except for the winter collection.

Hee... The cashier was damn stunned when she saw my VISA mini. haha... Just love the look on her face. She had never seen such a tiny VISA card before. haha... She was even more stunned when she swapped the card on the machine. It could actually work! haha...

Landed back in Singapore yesterday morning. All in all it was a good flight back! Well maybe except for someone appearing to be "drawing line" with me. haha... But nothing i couldn't managed. Even met up with Wendy at the DFS after we cleared immigration. Her flight returned early from London while mine was back on time. So we both arrived around the same time.

It was really a pleasant surprise. Anyway good she was back early coz her STA was scheduled 20mins after mine and i've bought this super lumpy Nougat back in Paris for her. haha... So dun have to wait to pass it to her!

Got myself a bottle of wine from DFS to add to my collection- Wolf Blass's Grey Label Carbernet Sauvignon. But i dun really like the screw cap though, which seems to take away the pleasure of opening a bottle of wine. Hee... well, maybe except for onboard the flight, scew caps are the best. Hassle free! haha...

The selections at DFS are just too little already. Just too bad Europe flight can't bring liquids onboard, if not i could have gotten a bottle of french back. It's cheaper and has far wider range than in Singapore.

Got another Paris flight coming up in Febuary. But i think my shopping will have to wait. Household expenses are mounting, thus more bills to pay. Spending budget will to be reduced, thus spending power will be halved. But well, that's the fact of life, when u thought u have gain the upper hand in life, something else will come your way to keep u on your toes.

When u say "Live Life to the Max", it also means living life with everything coming your way, the good and the very shitty.

4 Hours Slumber & Ramdom Thoughts.
Couldn't sleep since 5 this morning. Might be the damn jet lag that has been bugging me since the start of the week. Amist all the hype, travelling does hide a nuisance and jet lag is its name.

I'm so damn tired but i can't sleep and in another 4 hours time i've to report for flight. Lucky it's just a Penang Turn. 1 hour there and 1 hour back! I can't imagine if it's another Auckland. I'll die for u to see. haha... (translate: 我死给你看)

Anyway i woke up this morning with many random thoughts filling up my mind. Recently i've been thinking of things which i have not thought about for quite some time and well... as well as swore off thinking of.

Is this flagging off the start of something new? Or just my brain mulfunctioning, firing off the wrong signals?

I realised today could well be a busy day for me, i've got a flight to do, Christmas cards to write, and stuff to buy for tomolo's Christmas celebration at Ah Bee's place. All these could only be done after 1930 tonight!

Oh... i forgot to update about yesterday, another day to add to the collections of fond memories!

I had the Aircraft Visit on the '300er' yesterday, the newest fleet of 777s. That completes the final portion of my '300er' training. haha... finally has that "%" sign removed from my name. I'm offically '300er' trained and more flights to Paris and Milan now.

But that's not the point of me writing. To my surprise Ehsan, Violet, Big Ben were also rostered for the Aircraft Visit yesterday. Just that we were all rostered for different time slots, nevertheless, we still managed to meet each other during the A/C visit! Originally i thought only Wendy and i were rostered for the same day.

Anyhow, the 4 of us met up for lunch together after the A/C visit- minus one coz too bad Big Ben got to go meet his CTS and can't join us. I brought everyone to the cosy Changi Airport Recreation Club for lunch. A nice quiet spot hidden away in Terminal 2, not to mention the food there is cheap too!

Although lunch was short, we had a great time chatting and catching up with each other. Ehsan is still as Bitchy! haha... Soon everyone left for home while Wendy and i continued our original plans for that day- that's to go out for our Christmas gift exchange. Something which we have planned since November. haha... Yah... and the Christmas present had been sitting in my cupboard since then. Finally yesterday it has reached its intended recipient.

Oh, as a bonus, Wendy wrote me a Christmas card! So sweet of her.

Hey gal, If u're reading this, thanks a million! I love the card alot too! :) I've not open your present yet, i'm waiting for Christmas day to open! Hey... Can use one or not ah? haha...

Lastly i've finally gotten my bar cart keys and the compartment key. No need to borrow from everyone anymore! lalalalalalalalalalala...

THE HOLIDAY.
Yesterday went to catch THE HOLIDAY with Wendy at Vivo City, as well as did some window shopping and had our dinner the new Crystal Jade Dine In. All these thanks to our 2 days off from both our previous flights, but poor Wendy got a Jakata turn today! haha... I feel for u gal, but it's a turn lah! very fast over liao lah, before u know it u will be back reading this! hahaha... Oh... U reading this already? welcome back!

But i'm not anywhere that fortunate as well since i'm stuck home alone now, my sister got called up for a Dubai - Moscow last night, pax up somemore! lucky gal, i always wanna do a paxing long flight! u can actually watch 3 inflight movies and finish reading a magazine before landing! haha...

As for mom, she is at work now! So what the...

Then tomolo i'll be doing a Penang Turn, which is a good thing for once, coz i'll be back by evening, just in time to go shopping for Ah Bee's Christmas celebration at her place on the 24th. One thing though... i forgot to ask if it was dinner or lunch! Duh... I always forgot my 5 W's from my army days- the "Who", "What", "When", "Where", "Why"...

Eh... the "Why" part not so important lah.

Anyway back to THE HOLIDAY. This movie actually touches on the innermost fear of humans during the holiday season. Which is to spend Christmas or New Year Day alone by yourself. Sucks right?

Frankly if u were to view Christmas or New Year Day like any other day, it would appear over-rated and such depressing sentiments would be uncalled for. But the fact that it only appear once a year in the calendar and most importantly, everyone has someone to spend it with makes all the difference.

One funny thing though, people would rather spend it with someone special on that day as opposed to spending it with their friends. Well, ofcoz u could spend it together with that "someone special" and your friends at the same time but there will always be those fleeting moments whereby just the both of u will together in your own world, oblivious to the rest of the world.

Just u and her/him in your own world on chirstmas day / new year day, while the rest of the world drift past u like snowflakes.

If u ask me, i do not want to spend Christmas alone too, but this is the fact of life, what's your's is your's. U can't force things, nothing good will come out of it as i've come to learn. Life still goes on. The sun will still rise and a new day will come forth.

Given a choice between having someone for the holiday seasons and someone for the rest of my life without the holiday seasons, i would choose the later one. I would rather share as many days as i can with that someone, than share a handful of fleeting days and fear the coming of tomolo.

But then again, people always say that it's better to live a short life in ultimate bliss, than to live a long life without events.

Human live for the moment.

My god... Humans are so complex.

Alright enough of my confused thoughts! Update on the recent trip- Auckland.

Flew with Denise, one of my sister's batchmate. Had a boring stay at Auckland, i just watched TV and ate throughout my stay there and Auckland is now in my list of most tiring flights to do. Though the allowance is good, u really earn it with your sweat and blood.

Speaking of blood, on my flight back, my left tumb got clipped by the drink cart before the flight even take off, and if that's not bad enough, my right index finger got clipped by a meal cart during the 2nd meal service. Duh... WTH right? haha... Came back to Singapore with a bloody tumb and finger. Hurt like mad!

Shopping wise, not much to do there, but i bought a bottle of Nederburg Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot. The 4 day pattern allows me 1 bottle of wine into Singapore. Anyway wine is cheaper is NZ, it's like almost 50% cheaper lor.

Didn't take any photo as well, nothing much to take anyway. What i see this trip i see during my last trip. haha... hmmm... maybe if we don't do that 1 day standby we might have a chance to travel further out. haha...

Lost Sheep.
Recently i'm really a lost sheep, sort of lost my direction in life. Dun really know how to plan ahead. Last time when i was in the army, i thought everything would be fine once i come out to work. Unfortunately that's not how it turned out to be.

A new environment, a new set of worries.

I have to worry about money, work performance and alot alot more... then, there is this nagging urge to get attached, which i have been quite successful in suppressing by spending lots of money on myself. haha... Saying to myself that with a girlfriend, such luxury will immediately be cut in half. A fact that has been proven true for my past 25 years. Sad case hor me! haha...

Which also explains now, that i'm the brokest person around. Eh... i think my bank account has less than $100. I just changed NZ$100 for my Aukland trip tomolo, all thanks to my mom who lent me SGD$100 to change first. Actual exchange rate is NZ$100 to SGD$108, so i've to dig for the remaining $8. haha... I'll return the $100 back to my mom tomolo when my allowance comes in. Thank goodness allowance comes in all the time.

Recently, inorder to save money for my future, i've decided to take up a saving scheme. Actually i'm not so farsighted to think of that lah, someone nice adviced me to lah. haha... Hopefully by old age i will have more than enough cash to live comfortably till i die. But then again, cost of living might rise, the value of money may become smaller than now. So we might have to work till we die.

hmmm... but that isn't a bad thing, depending on how u see it. U can keep your mind and body working, preventing u from becoming insane like some old people and at the same time continue to generate cash. I actually dun mind working till i die but at least be some CEO or something lah. Minimum, some regional manager or the owner of a chain of restaurants.

Anyway i was thinking of taking up one more saving scheme in the future, after all, i have to save up for later right? i must well let it roll a sum of interest. Hee... But i guess that will have to wait till i could afford to save more. Currently my income could only cover my expenses with just a little left for the occasional parties and nightouts with friends. Yes yes... i'm cabin crew but i dun earn that much yet. U dun see me carrying a Gucci wallet right? haha...

Oh... OGC... that Gucci wallet no more already right? haha... dun worry, we'll get one ourselves, with our hard earned cash! haha... I dun think i will be owning a gucci wallet anytime soon too, i've to save up for my new home that will be completed next year. So i think i will be cash-strapped for another year! haha...

Errr... about the saving scheme, I not really good at explaining the rolling the interest part lah, but if anyone of u wanna know, it's from Prudential lah. If interested let me know lor, i can channel u to a friend of mine.

Oh well, got to end here. Salsa class later, then got to prepare for tomolo's Aukland flight!

Moldy!
Yes yes... I agree with Ah bee... This blog is getting moldy, yes, i've not been updating. But it's not without reasons.

I've been feeling really tired after all the recent flights. Dun really know why, but maybe accululated jet lagginess. I dunnoe. I feeling really really tired, seems like no amount of rest is enough. Maybe it's time to get a real vacation.

Alright, i'll try to update more. Think i should follow Bee, Karen and Leen's advice to write less and post more pics instead.

Anyway i've just came back from Shanghai, went for full body massage and foot reflexology. 2 hours and guess how much it cost? RMB$100 only leh, that's like SGD$20. lor... i still can give $10 tips and still cheaper than singapore. For $20 u can't even get half an hour in Singapore.

Right or not TJW? hahaha...

And NO... i did not ask for special! so stop thinking! Especially u TJW! haha...

Then plus the usual, shop for drystores and ofcoz... DVDs! haha... DVDs are priced the cheapest in China. But i think the biggest saving are those getting Animes and Korean and Japanese Serials. I got myself the GUNDAM SEED- DESTINY Series at only a fraction of what i get in Singapore, plus it's the same quality!

*I love my Thai Ranger T-shirt. A gift exchange from my Thai Counterpart during my army days. Haha... Traded my Ops Tshirt for it.

It's actually 3 degrees in Shanghai, too cold to stay outside for too long, but it's ok since there's not much sightseeing to do. Lots of places to eat though. I had a meal with 5 dishes for 2 for only SGD$12 and we can't even manage to finish to food! It's THAT much and THAT good! haha...

Before Shanghai, i came back from Hong Kong and Sydney. Nothing much in Sydney, just the usual of getting drystores and bringing them back to stock up my household food items.

Hee... Now the food items at home can qualify as international selections already! hahaha... Especially with my sister stocking up as well.

As for HongKong, i was just there for 1 nightstop, so only there for dinner and dessert. Oh, speaking of Dessert, dun miss out Shui Lui Shan at Tsim Sha Tsui if anyone wish to visit HK. Try the mango desserts, but my personal favourite is the cold Birdnest with Xue Ge. Just heavenly!

Hee... I always like to tell my friends i go to HK just to have dessert. haha... In a way is true lah.

Next stop, Denparsar Turn, just in time to be back home for dinner! I'm actually starting to appreciate home food more now.

Recently eating out dun really appeal to me anymore. Even with the diversity of culture in Singapore that provides us with a wide variety of food. I no longer find them pleasing to the palate. Maybe in a way, travelling has changed my taste for food.

In fact, the standard of food served in our premium restuarants can actually be found in ordinary food stores overseas and at a fraction of the price.
